ANDOVER & DISTRICT DTS OPEN SHOW REPORT
50th ANNIVERSARY SHOW SUNDAY 15th JULY 2018
This being our 50th Anniversary, there was wall to wall sunshine for our special day and this lasted all day.
My thanks go to all the judges, stewards and scoreboard stewards for giving up their day as without you there would be no show. Thanks also to the decoys stewards. For some this was their first experience and took the job in their stride. You may well be called upon again. Also thankyou to all the competitors for parking where directed, competing in a friendly manner and for the lovely comments made about the show.
Thanks to Stella Henstridge for being our Chief Steward and Alan Giddens for being our Chief Stay Steward. Thanks also goes to the following who volunteered their services during the day: Martin Livemore, Julie Askew, Anne Uglow, Abi Uglow, Aime Livemore, Julie Enright, Shelley Hayward, Joe Williams, Carole Evans, Jane and Roger Weems. Once again Angela Watson was our First Aider for the day, thank you.
I would also like to thank all club members, past and present who helped set up the venue on Saturday and continued on Sunday to allow for the smooth running of the show. Special thanks go to Val and Dave Kelsey for putting up the rings with the added help of Victoria Smith. Dave also stayed overnight with Mick as security for the venue. Thanks also to Craig Evans for helping in the setting up and together with Dave Kelsey and Roger Weems parked all the competitors with very little effort, as without the behind the scenes people the show would not happen.
We used outside caterers again for offsite lunches and judging by the comments that came back afterwards, it was a great success. Thanks to Carole for providing impromptu taxi to the village hall and back.
This year we had a trade stand, Rock It Dog Design. Stylish handmade dog collars and leads. They were well received and made some sales during the day. They are returning next year.
Well done to all the class winners and remember we all took home the best dogs. I look forward to seeing you all again next year. The date of our next show is Sunday 21st July 2019.
